lThe applicants for Chinese-medium programs need to have passed the Chinese HSK test with Grade 4 of Elementary Level, or have a statement from their embassy which proves that their secondary education was conducted in Chinese.

Eligibility:

lIn principle, applicants for master’s and Ph. D. program should be over the age of 18 and under the age of 45 and 50 respectively.

lApplicants must be healthy, both mentally and physically.

lApplicant for master’s program should have got bachelor’s degree upon registration with CQMU and applicants for Ph.D. program should have got master’s degree upon registration with CQMU.

lApplicant should have the recommendation of two professors /associate professors.

lApplicants for English-medium program whose secondary education was NOT conducted in English need to provide an English level certificate or take an English exam organized by CQMU; applicants for Chinese-medium programs need to have passed the Chinese HSK test with Grade 4 of Elementary Level, or have a statement from their embassy which proves that their secondary education was conducted in Chinese.

Note:

1. All the fees should be paid in Chinese currency. USD drafts are accepted for those who are not able to pay in Chinese currency (Insurance fee can only be paid in cash of Chinese currency in the finance department of CQMU), but students are responsible to make up the balances according to the related university regulations about the exchange rate. USD cash will not be accepted.

2. In the final academic year, the MBBS students who choose and are approved to do their internship in their home country or in other countries, other than in CQMU, only need to pay 20% of the tuition fee of that year. According to Nepalese Government, students from Nepal are not allowed to do internship back in Nepal.

3. Tuition and accommodation fees should be paid yearly.

4. According to the requirements of Ministry of Education in China, it is compulsory for every foreign student to buy insurance. CQMU is responsible to collect the insurance premium and transfer it to the insurance company. CQMU will only accept the cash of Chinese currency for the insurance.

5. For all applicants, the application fee (450 RMB) and the insurance fee for the first year (800 RMB) should be paid to the university account after their application documents are preliminarily checked and they are admitted and before the Visa Application Form of Foreign Personnel (JW202 form) is issued.

6. If the undergraduate students need the bedding stuff, they can pay the deposit and get it in Overseas Students Office on new campus after their arrival. The deposit will be refunded after they pay such fee in the finance department later.

7. The damage deposit will be refunded as the case may be upon graduation.

8. Water, electricity, gas will be charged according to the actual amount of usage and paid by the students themselves. Expenses of food, outpatient medical treatment as well as inpatient medical treatment which can not be covered by insurance, transportation, internet and telephone etc. will be paid by the students themselves.

V. Housing & Meal

 

lUndergraduates must live on new campus in their first year. Usually, two students share one room. Some single rooms may also be available for early application.

lPostgraduates can choose to live in a double room on campus (usually old campus) or houses for rent off campus.

lStudent apartments on campus: necessary furniture, Internet access, air conditioner, bath facilities.

VI. Scholarships

1.Chinese Government Scholarship(You can refer to APPLICATION PROCEDURES FOR CHINESE GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP attachedfor the details)

Chinese Government Scholarship Program is established by the Ministry of Education of P. R. China (hereinafter referred to as MOE) in accordance with educational exchange agreements or understandings reached between the Chinese government and the governments of other countries, organizations, education institutions and relevant international organizations to provide both full scholarships and partial scholarships to international students and scholars. MOE entrusts China Scholarship Council (hereinafter referred to as CSC) to manage the recruitment and carry out the routine management of Chinese Government Scholarship Program.

According to the regulations stipulated by MOE, all undergraduate programs for international students are instructed in Chinese.Applicants with no command of Chinese are required to take the college preparatory courses for one year before pursuing major studies. And only by passing the examinations of the college preparatory courses could they start their university studies. (The English-medium MBBS program is not available for Chinese Government Scholarship. It is available for Chongqing Mayor Scholarship.)

Chongqing Medical University was approved by MOE in 2012 to accept international students with Chinese Government Scholarship. Applicants for master and Ph. D. program can directly apply to the university for Chinese Government Scholarship. Applicants for bachelor’s program should apply to either the Chinese diplomatic mission in the applicant’s home country or the embassy of the applicant’s home country in China and the application documents should be forwarded by the above organizations to CSC by April 30th, 2013. Please contact the above organizations for the application deadline.

1)Full Scholarship

lExempt from registration fee, tuition fee, fee for laboratory experiment, fee for internship, fee for basic learning materials and accommodation fee for dormitory on campus;

lLiving allowance

lOne-off settlement subsidy after registration for new student;

lFee for outpatient medical service, Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Protection Scheme for International Students in China;

lFor Bachelor’s program: One-off inter-city travel subsidy.

2) Partial Scholarship: one or several items of full scholarship (one-off settlement subsidy and one-off inter-city travel allowance excluded).

 

1.Eligibility

1)Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens and be in good health.

2)Education background and age limit:

lApplicants for bachelor program must have senior high school diploma with good academic performance and be under the age of 25.

lApplicants for master program must have bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35.

lApplicants for Ph. D. program must have master’s degree and be under the age of 40.

2.Chongqing Municipal Government Mayor Scholarship

Chongqing Municipal Government Mayor Scholarship is provided by Chongqing Municipal Government for foreign applicants with the aim to help them pursue academic study and research in Chongqing. Foreigners who wish to study in Chongqing Medical University are entitled to submit application for the scholarship to Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Medical University before the deadline.

There are two categories of the scholarship:

 

Bachelor’s program

Master’s program

Doctor’s program

First-class

RMB 25,000 Yuan

RMB 30,000 Yuan

RMB 35,000 Yuan

Second-class

RMB 10,000 Yuan

RMB 15,000 Yuan

RMB 20,000 Yuan

Note:

1. Mayor Scholarship is different from Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC) mainly in that the full Chinese Government Scholarship may cover most of the fees of the scholarship winners during their study and they pay less, while the scholarship winners of Mayor Scholarship have to pay all the fees and expenses during their study. After they have paid off all the fees, the money will be paid to the winners by 12 months.

2. Mayor Scholarship is in principle for the standard length of your schooling in the university. Each year there will be a review of your behavior, which will decide whether you are still qualified for the scholarship in the following year.

3. Whether you can get the scholarship or not or which class you can get will be decided by Chongqing Municipal Government. Our recommendation does not necessarily mean that you can be given the scholarship.

4. The result of scholarship application will be issued every June.

1.Eligibility:

1)The applicant wish to study at least one academic year in Chongqing Medical University.

2)The applicant must be of non-Chinese citizenship, must be healthy mentally and physically and must be under 40.

3)The applicant can be the student of Bachelor’s program, Master’s program, PhD program or the training program.

4)The applicant must satisfy the admission requirements of Chongqing Medical University for foreign students.

VII. Application Materials

lCompleted Application Form for Foreigners to Study in Chongqing Medical University(original copy or photocopy/scanned copy)

lForeigner Physical Examination Form(can be submitted later) (photocopy/scanned copy) (the original copy should be kept by the applicant. The form printed by Chinese quarantine authority could be downloaded from http://www.cqmu.edu.cn or http://www.csc.edu.cn). The medical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Please select the appropriate time to take medical examination as it is valid for only 6 months.

lNon-Criminal Record issued by the police

lBachelor’s Program: high school leaving/studying certificate (photocopy/scanned copy), academic transcripts of high school (photocopy/scanned copy), character certificate (original copy or photocopy/scanned copy)

lMaster’s & Ph. D. Program: Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree or studying certificate (photocopy/scanned copy), academic transcripts of Bachelor’s / Master’s program (photocopy/scanned copy), two recommendation letters of professors/associate professors with their signature and contact information (original copy or photocopy/scanned copy), study plan of no less than 400 words in English or Chinese (original copy or photocopy/scanned copy). For students and workers, studying/working certificate is also required.

lOptional materials: articles or papers written or published, certificate of awards, HSK certificate, English level certificate, other related documents (photocopy/scanned copy)

 

Chinese Government Scholarship

lThe above-mentioned application documents for the programs of CQMU. Please note that

üThe two recommendation letters of professors/associate professors should be the original copy;

üThe high school leaving certificate and Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree should be notarized photocopy;

üFor students and workers, studying/working certificate is required;

üDocuments in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.

lApplication Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (filled in Chinese or English).

üThose who are available for online application shall fill in and print the application form after submitting it online. The CSC Online Application System for Study in China is available on http://laihua.csc.edu.cn.

üThe Agency NO. of Chongqing Medical University is 10631.

üThose who cannot apply online can download the form from http://www.cqmu.edu.cn or contact the university for the form and fill it truly, correctly and completely.

lStudy or research plan. Applicants for master and Ph. D. program are required to submit a study or research plan of no less than 400 words in English or Chinese

lApplicants under the age of 18 should submit the legal documents of their legal guardians in China.

Note: The printed documents to be posted should be in duplicate.

Mayor Scholarship

lThe above-mentioned application documents for the programs of CQMU. Please note that the two recommendation letters of professors/associate professors should be the original copy.

lStudy plan of no less than 400 words in English or Chinese (original copy or photocopy/scanned copy)

Note: 1. *School performance report/conduct record is an appraisal about applicants’ overall performance at school. It should be issued by the authority and should bear the seal.

2. The materials should not exceed 20 pages. Please use DIN A4.

3. Notarized English copy should be provided for the documents in the language other than English

VIII. How to Apply

 

1. Application deadline

1) Program of Chongqing Medical University: August 30

2)Chinese Government Scholarship: March 30

3) Mayor Scholarship (Type I): March 30

Note: Because only the students who have been admitted for the program of the university are eligible for the application of scholarship, those who want to apply for scholarship should submit the application documents for the program and for the scholarship together before the deadline for the scholarships.

2. How to apply

Note: Before submitting the application, please make sure that the forms are filled correctly and completely, the form format is standard, the contents are authentic and the documents are complete.

1) Individual applicants

(1) Applicants who will only apply for the program of CQMU:

Please submit application documents directly to Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Medical University by email or by post. Those who will submit by post had better first email the scanned copy of all the documents to us, so that we can check whether they are complete before they are posted. The Physical Examination Record for Foreigners can be submitted after the first review of the application documents.

(2) Applicants who will apply for Chinese Government Scholarship:

They should submit the application documents for the program and for the scholarship together.

lBachelor program: applicants should apply to either the Chinese diplomatic mission in the applicant’s home country or the embassy of the applicant’s home country in China and the application documents should be forwarded by the above organizations to CSC by April 30. Please contact the above organizations for the application deadline. Individual applications are not accepted by CSC. Application documents will not be returned.

lMaster and Ph. D. program: applicants can apply directly to Chongqing Medical University. The printed copy (in duplicate) and scanned copy of the documents should be posted and emailed to the university before March 30.

(3) Applicants who will apply for Mayor Scholarship:

They should submit the application documents for the program and for the scholarship together. Please submit application documents directly to Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Medical University first by email for us to check, and then by post, because some of the documents must be the original copy.Physical Examination Record for Foreigners must be submitted together with other documents.

2) Applicants through CQMU authorized consultancies

In principle, CQMU does not accept individual application for MBBS program from the countries where we have authorized consultancies (please refer to IX. Authorized Consultants below). The applicants should submit application documents to the consultancies some time before the deadline.

3) Visiting program

Usually CQMU offer visiting program all year round. Applicants had better not apply during the summer and winter vacation.

 

 

IX. Authorized Consultants

 

CQMU has authorized foreign consultancies in India, Indonesia and Mauritius which are responsible for recruiting MBBS students for CQMU. CQMU does not accept individual application for MBBS program from the above countries. The applicants who will apply for MBBS program can contact them for the information.

X. Health Requirements & Tips

 

1. Health requirements

Good health is required of the students. Before coming into China, applicants must have a physical examination at the local hospital in their home country and get a formal certificate (the vacant Foreigner Physical Examination Form can be downloaded).

After they enter China, according to the requirements of the Chinese government,theymust get the Foreigner Physical Examination Form verified or have another physical examination at their own cost.

Anyone who fails to meet the health standards for foreign students required by the Ministry of Education of China must leave China immediately. The travel expenses will be paid by the students themselves.

2. Related diseases

1)Quarantinable infectious diseases: plague, cholera, yellow fever.

2)Infectious diseases to be monitored: influenza, poliomyelitis, dengue, typhinia, typhus, malaria.

3)Diseases leading to exit from China: mental disorder, leprosy, AIDS, venereal diseases, contagious tuberculosis.

Other health requirements for foreign medical students shall be the same as those for Chinese medical students.

3. Notes for having physical examination in applicants’ home country

The following requirements must be followed. Otherwise the documents will be regarded as invalid.

1)Foreigner Physical Examination Formmust be issued by a public hospital or a health center. If the record was issued by a private hospital, the medical practitioner’s signature and special notarization are both needed.

2)The photo in the Foreigner Physical Examination Formmust bear an official stamp on the perforation. Sample:

 

3)Original report of blood test for HIV and SYPHILIS which bears the official stamp is required.

4)Original report of chest X-ray test for TUBERCULOSIS which bears the official stamp is required.

5)The official stamp on the above-mentioned documents should be the same.

6)The validity of the above-mentioned documents is six months.

XI. Notes for Registration & Chinese Study

1. Registration

After the application is approved, CQMU will post to applicants Admission Notice of Chongqing Medical University and Visa Application for Study in China (JW202 form) directly or through consultancies. Usually the documents will be posted by ordinary air mail, which may take about 4 weeks. The applicants who want the documents to be posted by express mail should pay for the fees by themselves.

The applicants can apply for X visa at the Chinese Embassy /Consulate in their home country with Admission Notice of Chongqing Medical University, Visa Application for Study in China (JW202 form), Foreigner Physical Examination Form sand other documents required.

After getting the visa, the students can go through the registration procedures at CQMU with the original copy of some application documents (please refer to the pre-departure information which will be sent later to the students who are admitted) within the stated time in Admission Notice.

Those who are late for registration will not be accepted except in some pre-approved cases. All the fees must be paid off within three months after the registration time. Otherwise the registration will not be completed and the applicants shall be disqualified for admission.

2. Chinese Language Proficiency

During the study in CQMU, the students who study in English still need to take Chinese courses arranged by the university and pass the exam at the end of the course study.

The MBBS students who will do their internship in the affiliated hospitals of CQMU must meet the requirements of the university in their Chinese language proficiency. Those who fail to meet the requirements will not be eligible to do their internship until they meet them.
